Color Pallets

Have you ever noticed how certain colors make you feel? Yellows are happy, blues are calming. I worked for a company once that chose to repaint the off-white office walls light grey. The end result looked great but had the undesired effect of making me feel sleepy. That aside, as painters, you undoubtedly know the color trends in your area. Now you can help your clients maximize the value of their homes with color!

The real estate site Zillow came out last week with a study that identifies the impact of specific colors in specific rooms on home prices. Highlights from the study:

  • Yellow kitchens, green bedrooms, and gray living rooms all boost home prices $1000 or more.
  • White kitchens and dark colors elsewhere have a negative impact on selling price.

Bottom line from Zillow’s chief economist, Svenja Gudell:

Warm neutrals like yellow or light gray are stylish and clean, signaling that the home is well cared for, or that previous owners had an eye for design that may translate to other areas within the house.
